Join us as we explore Kim Chong Hak, Painter of Seoraksan and look at the works of Kim Chong Hak, a master painter from South Korea popularly known as “the painter of Seoraksan.” The High is the first American museum to showcase his work. With more than seventy works, including new acquisitions from the High’s collection, the exhibition will span the arc of Kim’s mature career and present an aspect of Korean art in the late twentieth century little known outside of South Korea.

Join us as we explore the works of Ryoji Ikeda, one of the world’s leading composers and media artists. In this exhibition, the High will present the US debut of data-verse, Ikeda’s trilogy of monumental, immersive light and sound installations that represents more than two decades of research by the artist and reflects upon the progressive digitalization of an integrated global society. The exhibition will also premiere new work alongside existing works, including data.gram, a series of eighteen monitors that take apart, analyze, and recombine information in data-verse.

Led by local artist Peter Ferrari, this walking tour will explore new murals painted for Forward Warrior, an annual festival founded and curated by Ferrari himself.

While walking through the historic neighborhood of Cabbagetown, participants will receive an introduction to the murals lining Wylie Street and learn about the artists who created them. Ferrari will also share insight into his curatorial process and speak to the festival’s ten-year evolution.

This tour will commence at the intersection of Carroll St SE and Tennelle St SE and will cover approximately one mile of walking distance. Though limited, street parking is available throughout Cabbagetown. Assistive listening devices will be provided, and lightweight collapsible stools may be requested in advance.

This event was orginally on July 24 at 5:30 p.m. but has been rescheduled to Thursday, August 1 at 5:30 p.m.

This tour will explore new murals created by local artists and will be led by Tatiana Bell and Drew Borders, who are both influenced by the public art landscape of Atlanta. Taking place in the neighborhood of Lake Claire and the surrounding Kirkwood area, this tour will pay special attention to murals created at Pullman Yards and Living Walls’ newly completed mural exhibition, I AM MINE/WE ARE OURS. Through guided exploration, participants will learn about the details of the murals featured, what it is like creating a mural, and the significance of public art in Atlanta.

This tour will commence on the corner of Arizona Avenue and Dekalb Avenue and will cover approximately one mile of walking distance. Assistive listening devices will be provided, and lightweight collapsible stools may be requested in advance.

About Your Guides

Tatiana Bell

Tatiana Bell is an Atlanta born-and-raised artist and interaction designer who manages the social media, website, public relations, and overall communications for the public arts organization Living Walls. After receiving a BS in Interactive Design and Technical Communications from Kennesaw State University, with work experience at the Zuckerman Museum of Art and Atlanta Regional Commission, she found her passion at the intersection of art, design, and community. Bell works to create exciting experiences that encourage connection through building community, promoting safe spaces, and amplifying marginalized experiences.

Drew Borders

Drew Borders is an African American muralist, illustrator, 2D animator, and freelancer based in Atlanta. Borders’s work is driven by a desire for representation among people of color, often highlighting Black and Brown women combating stigmas and stereotypes of marginalized groups. She explores and focuses on the joy, the wonder, and the magic of Black culture using a combination of paint and spray paint, vibrancy, and portraiture. She has worked with various companies, public art organizations, and galleries throughout Atlanta, Charlotte, New York City, and Miami, with a new career highlight being the curatorial voice for Living Walls’ mural exhibition I AM MINE/WE ARE OURS. She received her formal training at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated with a BFA in animation.

This tour will commence on the corner of Arizona Avenue and Dekalb Avenue and will cover approximately one mile of walking distance. There is on-street parking available on Arizona Avenue. See below for a map of the area. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure a prompt start time.
